south carolina continuing care for addiction
The first year after leaving a treatment facility tests an individual’s resolve, and is often one of the most difficult. Through our continuing care program, we offer counseling services and other solutions that are designed to instill confidence and strength. These services help ensure that a client is constantly progressing and maintaining their sobriety. According to the National Institute of Health, people who continued their addiction therapy for a 12-month period after discharge had substantially higher positive outcomes than those who only experienced inpatient rehab.
Continuing care plans may include the following:
- Case management
- Drug testing
- Family therapy
- Individual therapy
- Recreational activities
- Social events
- Support group meetings
While you should take great pride in completing treatment at a recovery center such as BriteLife, you must always remain dedicated and resolute in your search for ongoing care and assistance. Staying connected to your care can improve both your quality of life and long-term success rate. If necessary, our team will communicate with appropriate, pre-determined third parties to provide any required employment or legal/judicial updates on your behalf.
aftercare Prevents relapse
During addiction treatment and continuing care, clients benefit from treatments that identify problems and find solutions. Triggers are distinctive to the person that feels them, so addressing triggers must be an individualized procedure. Simply identifying these personal triggers is a big step in the right direction. Typical triggers include stress, hunger, thirst, loneliness, financial problems and more. After identification, clients and therapists collaborate to find alternative activities that are substance free. Some clients find that exercising helps to reduce triggers, while others prefer yoga or strength training.
Our staff fully recognizes how difficult it can be to return home or re-enter the community following your discharge. Each client will face their own unique set of challenges once they complete addiction therapy. That's why our objective is to provide the individualized tools needed to live a happy, healthy life and prevent relapse. We work closely with our clients to create customized transition plans, develop goals, and address any potential questions or concerns you may have. We're proud to care for our clients long after they leave our recovery center. Sobriety is a lifelong journey, and while your time spent at BriteLife in Hilton Head will eventually conclude, our commitment and support never ends.
CONTINUING CARE INCLUDES 12-STEP SUPPORT
12-step meetings are free, informal self-help groups for people recovering from addictions and their families. Groups are self-sustaining through their own contributions so if you have a couple of dollars to kick-in for coffee, that is appreciated. Joining 12-step meetings is an effective way to build a sober support network beyond treatment and should be a part of every aftercare plan.
Twelve-step groups stress abstinence and use a set of 12-steps to help people recover from alcoholism and drug addiction. Members take accountability for their own recovery, share their experiences, help others, and establish a connection with a higher power (which does not have to be God). They also work with a sponsor, who is usually in long-term recovery themselves.
